About Me

I love anime. Anime shapes who I am today while being a significant influence on my life decisions, including the pursuit of art and animation. Generally speaking, my work aligns with my interests and hobbies making them my source of inspiration. They are what best encapsulate the situational inspiration and imagination in my work. In this case, the animation you see here is created from my combined interests in both anime and rhythm games.

As I continued to watch anime from a young age, I was eventually introduced to rhythm games through the anime community and came to enjoy them, especially those that had Japanese music in their song library. Rhythm games are a gaming genre centralized around music and the player's sense of rhythm as they play to the beat and the visual cues. The forms of play vary by the music, the game’s mechanics, and the individual's expressive playstyles. As a result, each kind of rhythm game creates its unique space for players to enter a trance. A trance where they display the harmony between the human mind, body, music, and technology. Therefore, what I aim to share through this animation is the excitement of playing rhythm games through movements, expressions, music, and their unique game mechanics. In particular, the rhythm games shown in this animation are arcade rhythm game machines known as MaiMai and Dance Rush, my top favorite of the bunch.

Notably, my process in achieving this goal is related to the characters as they are the protagonist of the animation who shares a love for rhythm games just as I do. While their spoken voice cannot be heard as there is no dialogue in the animation, another kind of voice can still be heard through their actions and expressions. Their actions and expressions are the behaviors rooted in their characters and their character is shaped by their experiences. These experiences become stories to immerse, communicate, and relate to others and to them. I particularly enjoy the expressions and the stories developing the character and the world in which they live. Hence, in my animation, I emphasize bringing the subject and the character to life by telling their stories.  After all, we too have our own stories shaping who we are.
